In US schools are eSports competitions, which are organised by a group of PlayVS. Competitions are usually held in three games: League of Legends, Rocket League and Smite, but on 21 January the group announced a partnership with Epic Games to the schools in the tournament and Fortnite appeared.

Kentucky made against it. The sports Association of the schools of the state do not agree that the game with the use of weapons may appear on eSports in schools. According to them, in schools there are no games with the shooting.

adding a Fortnite violates the contract signed between the PlayVS and NFHS (National Federation of associations of public secondary schools), and puts the future of the program at risk. Earlier, the Sports Association of the schools of Kentucky were opposed to League of Legends because of the violence. Now parents must sign a written approval before their children can participate in the competition.
